Due software reasons, I have to install Catalina first, and then Big Sur. I have a lot of boot flash drives for various OS (I work at a school and updated/upgraded a lot of computers during the shutdown), and had to reinstall from scratch. It claims you only need 50 GB of free space, but we had that, barely, and it wasn't enough.

Upgrading a user from High Sierra to Big Sur, but due to a lack of available hard drive space, I didn't want to upgrade in step.
